Hi, I’m Spring Washam – a dharma teacher, author, and someone deeply dedicated to helping others find healing, resilience, and a sense of belonging on their spiritual journey. I live in Atlanta, Georgia, and have written A Fierce Heart: Finding Strength, Courage, and Wisdom in Any Moment and The Spirit of Harriet Tubman: Awakening from the Underground. My work is all about sharing the courage and compassion that I believe lives within each of us, especially in the face of life’s challenges.As one of the founding teachers at the East Bay Meditation Center in Oakland, California, I’ve spent years bringing Buddhist teachings into communities that don’t often have access to these practices. I also serve on the Teacher’s Council at Spirit Rock Meditation Center, where I offer teachings on meditation, loving-kindness, and Buddhist wisdom in ways that feel inclusive and accessible.I’m also the founder of Lotus Vine Journeys, a heart-centered organization that combines Buddhist wisdom with indigenous healing traditions in retreat settings in South America. I’ve been fortunate to study with incredible Shipibo healers in the Peruvian Amazon, along with practicing Buddhism since the late '90s. These experiences are woven into everything I share.More recently, I co-founded the Spirit Underground Liberation Project here in Atlanta, which is all about creating supportive spaces for collective healing, liberation, and reclaiming our wholeness as a community.At the heart of my work is a love for people and a belief in our power to transform ourselves.
