As the Blended Digital Learning Lead for the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, I am responsible for driving digital learning initiatives and implementing blended learning programmes to support the ongoing education of new recruits and existing clinicians. By enhancing the design and delivery of current course content, I ensure that learners are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed for their roles in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. I also focus on advancing simulation-based learning, delivering immersive clinical development experiences and supporting assessment processes for clinical staff.A key aspect of my role involves creating engaging video content and graphics to support courses for new entrants, refresher training, and clinical skill development for existing staff. Utilising tools such as Rise360 and the Adobe Cloud Suite, I work to improve the learner experience by making content more accessible, interactive, and engaging.I lead a team of two Digital Coordinators, collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure learning solutions align with the London Ambulance Service’s strategic goals. This involves cross-departmental cooperation to tailor digital learning resources that meet both educational and operational needs.While leading these digital innovations, I remain clinically relevant, continuing to practise as a registered paramedic. This hands-on experience allows me to ensure that all learning content remains practical, up-to-date, and relevant to the real-world clinical environment.

As a Paramedic Clinical Tutor with the London Ambulance Service NHS Trust, I was dedicated to developing the clinical skills of new and experienced clinicians alike. I delivered accredited FutureQuals training for Associate Ambulance Practitioners (AAPs) and led induction programmes for Newly Qualified Paramedics (NQPs) from UK universities and international backgrounds, ensuring they were well-prepared to navigate the challenges of pre-hospital care in London. I also played a key role in supporting clinicians returning to practice and those transferring from other services, helping them seamlessly integrate into the LAS.A key achievement was serving as the Simulation Lead for West London, where I designed and delivered high-fidelity simulation scenarios that mirrored real-life emergencies. This immersive training allowed clinicians to practise critical skills and enhance decision-making in a controlled, supportive environment. I was also responsible for delivering refresher training and the EMT Upskill Course, ensuring that existing clinicians continued to meet high standards of care.In addition to my teaching duties, I regularly updated my own clinical skills, ensuring my knowledge remained current and relevant. I contributed to the development of educational materials and e-learning modules, enhancing the quality and accessibility of LAS training programmes.Completing my PGCE and CAVA qualifications was another milestone, refining my teaching and assessing capabilities. The Paramedic Clinical Advisor role involved conducting remote triage using the Manchester Triage System, ensuring that patients received the appropriate level of care based on their symptoms, urgency, and risk factors. I worked closely with call handling and dispatch teams, guiding them on clinical decisions and ensuring the right resources were dispatched to emergency situations.In this position, I conducted call-backs to patients, offering clinical assessments and advice over the phone. I also utilised video triage through GoodSAM, which allowed me to assess patients visually. In cases where precise location information was critical, I leveraged What3Words technology to improve emergency response times by pinpointing exact patient locations.Collaboration with other agencies was a key part of my role, including police, fire services, Transport for London, British Transport Police, and Social Services. This cross-agency coordination ensured a comprehensive response to complex incidents, addressing not only medical emergencies but also safeguarding and social care needs.As part of my responsibilities, I handled safeguarding cases, identifying vulnerable patients and ensuring they were referred to appropriate services for further support. I was also involved in the ongoing mentorship and support of colleagues, helping to enhance their clinical skills and decision-making in remote triage scenarios. As a Team Coordinator I assumed the responsibilities of a Deputy Team Manager, overseeing a team of Paramedics, Emergency Medical Technicians, and Associate Ambulance Practitioners. My role involved managing staff development, compliance, and well-being, ensuring the team consistently delivered high-quality patient care.I ensured compliance with Patient Group Directives, making sure staff were fully trained and operating within the required clinical guidelines. I regularly conducted audits on controlled and non-controlled drugs across stations, ensuring adherence to safety regulations. A key part of my role involved auditing clinical paperwork against key performance indicators & providing feedback to staff to support continuous improvement.Supporting staff development was central to my responsibilities, where I provided mentorship, guidance, and performance reviews. I conducted operational ride-outs with team members to assess their on-scene performance, offering real-time coaching to enhance their clinical decision-making and patient care.Staff well-being was a priority, and I carried out welfare checks for those off duty due to illness or maternity leave, ensuring they felt supported throughout their time away. Upon their return, I managed return-to-work interviews and administrative processes to ensure a smooth transition back to work.I was also involved in the successful rollout of iPad devices to frontline staff, enabling access to Summary Care Records and clinical apps, which improved patient care and decision-making in the field. I enrolled staff devices and provided support to ensure full integration of this technology. I provided hands-on training and guidance, helping them build confidence and refine their clinical skills in real-world scenarios. I completed my own NQP programme and developed a high-standard portfolio. I set up a support network for other NQPs, offering advice and assistance to help them navigate the process.My role also involved effective communication and collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, including liaising with hospital staff, other emergency services, and community care providers to ensure patients received the most appropriate care. I was regularly called upon to manage complex and high-pressure situations, providing reassurance to patients and their families while delivering safe and effective treatment.Staying current with clinical best practices was essential, and I remained committed to ongoing professional development throughout my role. This involved attending regular training sessions, completing my NQP portfolio, and continuously updating my knowledge to ensure I delivered the highest standards of care.In addition to clinical duties, I ensured that my care documentation met key performance indicators and ensured to maintain the quality and accountability of care within the service.My work was underpinned by the LAS's core values of compassion, professionalism, and accountability.
