I am a seasoned cybersecurity professional with over 26 years of hands-on experience in safeguarding information in high-stakes environments. Over the course of my 32-year career as a Captain in the Indian Navy, I have had the privilege of leading pioneering cybersecurity initiatives across the entire organisation. From developing robust security policies and conducting comprehensive audits to testing cutting-edge technologies and deploying advanced security solutions, my team and I were always focused on staying ahead of evolving threats.In recent years, one of my key responsibilities was to build and enhance the Navy’s Information Security framework. I had the privilege of mentoring and inspiring talented teams that thrived in the fast-paced and dynamic world of cybersecurity. My passion for malware analysis and reverse engineering, particularly in the context of incident response and digital forensics, gave me a deep understanding of threat actor tactics, techniques and procedures (TTPs). This expertise allowed me and my team to develop effective countermeasures, neutralising immediate threats and preventing future attacks.Throughout my career, I have embraced collaboration and encouraged innovative, out-of-the-box solutions over the 'lone wolf' mindset. In today’s complex cybersecurity landscape, a diverse, synergistic team can far outperform even the most talented individual working alone. It has been an incredible privilege to work alongside the young, talented professionals of the Navy Cyber Group, watching them grow into capable leaders in their own right. I’ve learned as much from them as they have from me and those shared experiences have been invaluable for all of us.
