After experiencing the need for a global infrastructure for remote workers, I co-founded SafetyWing (YC18) to build a global social safety net for remote workers and teams. We’re ultimately creating a country on the internet, where citizenship is offered as a service wherever you are in the world.The genesis of the idea came from the previous company I co-founded Superside (YC16), a freelance platform. We wanted to provide benefits and income protection to the freelancers on the platforms, but nobody offered it, so eventually we realized we had to build it ourselves. Prior to that I was a policy advisor in the Norwegian Parliament.
