I focus on innovating higher education through a combination of emerging technological and pedagogical strategies. My goal is to assist diverse student populations to attain the education they need to meet their goals.In the past, I have done this through the implementation of a variety of distance learning modalities and strategies to meet the student where they were and on their schedule. I started doing this at Old Dominion University in the late 90s via televised courses, video streaming, and eventually fully online asynchronous courses. I then became one of the original instructional designers for ASU Online where I developed many of the practices around course design that are still in use today. This includes the implementation of Quality Matters. Later, I worked to bring new technologies and hybrid learning to ASU's College of Nursing & Health Innovation. Today, I am the District Director for the Maricopa Center for Learning and Innovation at the Maricopa Community Colleges and I am exploring microcredentials, entrepreneurship, the use of AI to support student learning, potential roles with virtual reality, and explore other emerging technologies and ensuring that they fit within pedagogical frameworks to improve student learning. I am also committed to both the pedagogical and leadership development of our faculty.In addition, I am active with Quality Matters where I am the lead for the Arizona Statewide QM Consortium, a licensed facilitator for multiple workshops, a certified Master Reviewer, a QM Research Colleague, and a member of the QM Academic Advisory Council. In 2020, I was recognized with the QM Directors' Award for Exceptional Service.
