SUMMARY:Directed signature NGS programs with combined $6 million budget: Explorer-in-Residence, Visiting Fellows, and Emerging Explorers. Managed direct reports, contractors, and vendors. HIGHLIGHTS:• Created and produced the top event at National Geographic, the annual Explorers Festival featuring 50+ global explorers and more than 500+ audience members, that helped shape content strategy.• Played a key role in establishing a new grants program with the Waitt Foundation, providing 100 grants annually to fund “proof of concept” initiatives for young researchers.

SUMMARY:Launched new initiatives and collaborated with NGS Development Office to secure multi-year sponsorships for projects.• Created and led the highly regarded Emerging Explorers annual awards program to nurture a new generation of innovative problem solvers and offer a new perspective on the concept of exploration. Since 2004, more than 150+ Emerging Explorers have been recognized and awarded ~ $1.5 million in grant money.• Expanded and internally led NGS Photo Camp that inspires youth to explore the power of their own stories through photography.
