Sreyna has been a counselor with Hagar since 2005. She initially worked in the children’s program in several roles. In 2010, she began work in the recovery program for women and children before working in recovery and transitional care. Sreyna took up her current leadership role in 2013, managing a staff of 24 in client care across recovery and transitional care. In 2015, her focus is on building the capacity of Hagar staff (and caregivers) through a range of unique training programs including trauma-informed care for all staff; trauma-informed care for caregivers; and parental training programs for delivery to Hagar clients. Sreyna works in collaboration with Hagar's Psychosocial Capacity Building Advisor Sue Taylor. Sreyna is also a member of Hagar Cambodia's senior management team.She has a Master of Business Administration (Management) and a Bachelor Degree in English Education from the Asia Euro University in Phnom Penh. "Building a team in an NGO requires a lot of understanding of the operating environment, knowing how to be effective and keep the team on track. It is important to lead and show the team the direction we need to go in, acknowledge steps along the way and support each teammember to reach their targets. Encouragement is a critical part of staff motivation. Building strong relationships with all stakeholders is fundamental too." Sreyna’s early childhood was spent in a refugee camp after the Pol Pot regime. Her direct experience with the trauma of war, discrimination and hardship has deeply affected her outlook. Sreyna returned to Cambodia in 1992 and was able to pursue her education while working to support her family. In 1997 she was selected to study in Phnom Penh and she was awarded a Diploma in Christian Education in 2000. At university, her studies of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder have greatly influenced her approach to the care of survivors along with her belief in the fundamental value of love and hope.
