As the Economic Director at FEDEPAPA-FNFP, I spearhead five projects dedicated to enhancing the welfare and competitiveness of Colombia’s potato sector through meticulous economic analysis and strategic tools. A pivotal achievement includes orchestrating the successful formulation and direction of a dumping case against imported precooked and frozen potatoes. This endeavor culminated in a favorable ruling by the Ministry of Commerce in 2018, safeguarding the interests of domestic producers and bolstering the industry’s resilience.Furthermore, I have been instrumental in the development and implementation of robust statistical information systems, alongside devising effective promotion and dissemination strategies, fostering associativity models, establishing a potato observatory platform, and fortifying trade defense mechanisms for the sector. These initiatives have been undertaken in collaboration with a diverse array of public and private entities, including the National Potato Development Fund, production associations, the Colombian Mercantile Exchange, Camacol B&C, and esteemed universities.My academic background includes a Master of Science in Economics from Universidad de Antioquia and a Bachelor of Economics from Universidad del Valle. I bring to the table extensive expertise in rural development, project formulation, public policy design, trade practices, civil organization processes, and behavioral economics.
