With the Internet of Things and connected devices becoming a focus point for technological development in the appliance industry, AHAM named me staff lead for the association's connectivity initiative. I remain the policy lead for environmental issues, ranging from sustainability to regulatory efforts at the federal and state levels.

I have written over 1000 articles for DCist, an online publication focused on local news, politics and culture in the Washington, D.C. metro area. My "beat" has ranged from music, mainly jazz and world music, to theater and visual arts. Interview subjects include NEA jazz masters, prominent local arts presenters and up-and-coming local talent. My work at DCist generated other freelancing opportunities at Modern Drummer, Downbeat, Washingtonian, the Washington Examiner, Washington City Paper, Nirali Magazine and others. I have also been interviewed for NPR's D.C. affiliate, WAMU, to comment on D.C.'s jazz scene.

I have been performing throughout the Baltimore/Washington, D.C. metro area since the mid-1990s. Performance experience includes major arts festivals in Baltimore and D.C., the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage, the Mansion at Strathmore, Blues Alley, Twins Jazz, Bohemian Caverns, the Bossa Bistro & Lounge, and NPR. In 2005, I performed on, co-produced and financed the recording and release of "One and One Makes One," an album by The Duology Band. I released my first album as a bandleader, "The Fourth Stream," in May 2016. The Washington City Paper named The Fourth Stream a local jazz "Recording of the Year" for 2016.

AHAM is a trade association serving the home appliance industry. My policy work focuses on environmental and energy issues. Past projects include analysis of EU environmental legislation and regulations, as well as tracking extended producer responsibility developments in the U.S. and Canada. Currently, I divide the bulk of my efforts between AHAM's sustainability standard development and product stewardship initiatives, as well as developing connectivity strategy and policy as appliances increasingly become part of the Internet of Things.

Subcontinental Drift is a collective of South Asian artists and organizers whose goal is to build a strong community space for the South Asian diaspora through the arts. On-going and past events include a monthly open-mic, a gallery showing for photography, a panel discussion on performance art, a classical Indian music recital, a rock concert, a hip hop extravaganza, and more. The organization has spawned branches in New York City, Boston, San Francisco and Chicago. My responsibilities have included developing strategy, organizing events, community outreach, press outreach, writing grant proposals and a variety of other executive and administrative duties. In this capacity, I collaborated with representatives from arts organizations large and small, including Strathmore, the Smithsonian and the Kennedy Center.

Noblis is a nonprofit science, technology and strategy organization that helps clients solve complex scientific systems, process and infrastructure problems. My main responsibility was to conduct complex "over-the-horizon" regulatory analyses of emerging contaminants for the Office of the Secretary of Defense. I authored reports on the following chemicals: Antimony, Cadmium, Cerium, Cobalt, Diisocyanates, Dinitrotoluenes, Manganese, Metal-based nanomaterials and Phthalate Esters. I researched and co-authored a report on Sustainability Benchmarking Tools that was also presented to the Office of the Secretary of Defense. In addition, I engaged in expert elicitation to determine operational impacts of regulatory developments and provided litigation support for a law suit between a branch of the military and a major defense contractor.

The Heinz Center is a nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank dedicated to improving the scientific and economic foundation for environmental policy. While serving as a consultant to the Center, I conducted technical and policy research to determine best indicators for measuring the ecological effects of air pollution, specifically with respect to nitrogen and sulfur. This research included analyzing the quality of relevant environmental data present in nation wide data systems and culminated with my co-authoring chapters of a report commissioned by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

The U.S. EPA's office of Administrative Law Judges conducts hearings and renders decisions in proceedings between the EPA and persons, businesses, government entities, and other organizations which are or are alleged to be regulated under environmental laws. As a Staff Attorney, I drafted initial decisions and orders on cases involving the Clean Water Act, Toxic Substances Control Act and the Clean Air Act, as well as default judgments in cases before the Patent and Trademark Office. Other non-EPA activity included researching and drafting legal memoranda on issues in a case before the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight and in cases before the Department of Housing and Urban Development.

IEER provides activists, policy-makers, journalists, and the public with understandable and accurate scientific and technical information on energy and environmental issues. In my capacity as Staff Scientist, I led a fact finding mission to the former Yugoslavia and was principal author of a report on the environmental effects of chemical plant bombings from 1999’s Operation Allied Force. I also co-authored and/or acted as research assistant on various projects including reports on water and soil pollution at nuclear weapons production facilities, energy policy in the United States and France, and the global economy. I also taught instructional sessions at annual technical training workshops for environmental activists.
