About Srihari B

I'm an aspiring aerospace engineer and astronaut who hopes to catapult humankind to the highest echelon of space exploration. As a dedicated Mechanical Engineering graduate student at Columbia University, I bring to the table a robust background in leadership and 3+ years of research experience.I’m a former Lead Researcher for NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center, where I collaborated with a 10-member collegiate team on a $10,000 grant-winning project. Our team developed a novel oxidation coating technique titled Plasma Rapid Oxidation Technique for Extending Component Tenability, which enhances the intricate design capabilities of Ti-6Al-4V (titanium) alloys used in rocket thrusters. To advance this effort, I co-authored grant proposals that helped secure over $70,000 in funding, developed SolidWorks models of titanium, and formulated innovative testing methods. Overall, in my two-and-a-half-year tenure on this project, our team demonstrated a 92% increase in the corrosion potential and a 70% increase in the design capabilities of Ti-6Al-4V alloys. To showcase this project, I presented at the International Forum on Research Excellence and was bestowed with the Best Graduate Poster Presentation Award, the Best Interdisciplinary Research Award, and inducted into Sigma Xi, the Scientific Research Honor Society. Our project was also featured in the 2022 NASA Research & Technology Report as a breakthrough technology.I am deeply committed to solving pressing problems in the realm of space exploration. I aspire to pursue a career in either Aerospace Engineering or Management Consultancy. I am actively looking for full-time roles starting January 2025.
