The areas that need to be considered as part of the project, are creation of a standardized network architecture, the skills required, universal connectivity between equipment’s, safe collection and storage of data, work organization and design and the associated training required.The aim of the project would be to develop a strategic framework for the application of Industrie 4.0 approaches, that could drive productivity improvement within a global logistics organization.

DPD Group is one of UK’s leading time-critical parcel carriers and has a reputation for delivering premium services. Deliveries are made for customer brands like Vodafone, John Lewis, M&S, Amazon, River Island and Disney Store. The aim of the project was to evaluate the existing systems used at the four hubs and propose an improved procedures for manual sorting through identification and reduction of wastes. The proposed systems is aimed to deliver improved flow and productivity. The project team composed of 8 people, of 7 nationalities, and was a learning opportunity on leaning team working and people management.
