I co-founded Origin Medical with Jens Thang with a mission to advance maternal health equity by improving access to quality prenatal care through AI. At Origin Medical, we aim to elevate, standardize, and democratize the global standard of care for every expectant mother by bringing expert-level prenatal screening to them. Origin Medical’s proprietary AI holds the potential to drive advancements in prenatal care to help healthcare professionals improve productivity and ultimately improve patient outcomes.To support Origin Medical’s mission, we have established Origin Medical Research Lab, the research arm of Origin Medical, which brings together the best and brightest minds at the intersection of AI and healthcare. With a Ph.D. from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, National University of Singapore, my expertise lies in deep learning algorithms applied to medical imaging. My thesis was titled "Deep Learning Algorithms for Optical Coherence Tomography Images with Applications in Glaucoma." I have collaborated with leading institutions across Singapore, Asia, the U.K., and India. My work specialized in the development and validation of deep learning algorithms for multiple medical imaging applications (multi-modal data), including segmentation and quantification (2D/3D), classification, disease detection and prognosis, and image denoising/enhancement, with over 600+ citations, and contributing to an NUS Deep-tech spin-off - Abyss Processing (www.abyssprocessing.com) as a key inventor for their AI.Prior to medical imaging, I spent significant time in control systems, robotics, computer vision, hardware, and embedded system design.
