I am a Software Development Engineer in Elastic Block Store at Amazon. I am currently working on a highly scalable, fault-tolerant control plane for EBS. A single instance of an EBS resource is an EBS volume. Our team is responsible for the end to end orchestration of EBS volumes, management of customer meta-data and state, and overall lifecycle of the EBS volumes. We work on customer facing releases (like encrypted EBS, GP2, Larger and Faster EBS Volumes). Our team is challenged to operate at scale without compromising on availability, performance and cost.EBS provides high performing virtualized storage “in the cloud” for EC2. It is a key building block for many applications, from databases to distributed file systems to Hadoop clusters.
