About Sriram Ravindran
I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, where I use computational tools to investigate the genetic basis of cardiovascular diseases. My research involves working with conditional knockout mice and the Collaborative Cross, a genetically diverse mouse panel, to identify genetic loci that influence cardiovascular health. I also have a strong interest in studying mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) from various sources, such as primary cells and sequencing data, using single-cell and long-read technologies. My previous experience in studying cardiac mitochondria has motivated me to pursue this direction at the Rau Lab. In addition to my academic research, I am also passionate about exploring the start-up space and learning the skills of entrepreneurship. I have been selected for the Venture Catalyst Program 2023-24 at UNC, which provides training and mentorship for researchers who want to launch their own ventures. As part of this program, I am currently exploring the cancer molecular diagnostic space and looking for potential opportunities to apply my expertise.
