Responsibilities include ensuring that i) the overall objectives of the company i.e. both physical and financial targets are met, ii) the required Human Resources, Business processes, and other systems are in place and the company is well managed and financially viable, iii) the Milk Producer Companies being facilitated by the NDDB Dairy Services (NDDB DS) become stronger and self-reliant, and iv) taking initiatives to facilitate the formation of successful Producer Companies in the non-dairy sector too. Key achievements in this role so far include:i. Led the NDDB DS team in assisting and providing services to the 18 Milk Producer Companies (MPCs) which together have a turnover of over Rs 5600 crore with a membership of about 7.5lakh dairy farmers consisting mostly smallholders and of which about 69% are women. ii. Dovetailed with various funding agencies including the govt bodies supporting the MPCs. iii. Promoted the concept of Producer Company at various forums by making presentations and participating in discussions.iv. Facilitated the NDDBDS-supported five large MPCs in adopting Policy Governance by their respective boards for robust governance and monitoring.

Leads NDS's initiatives in setting up Milk producer Companies (MPCs) in collaboration with various agencies. Also support these MPCs in operationalization, establishing marketing linkages, post operationalization support for strengthening their business. In addition proactively support in strengthening governance of these MPC through facilitating modular workshops and strategic sessions with their Board members. I am an Expert Director on six MPCs . Some of these MPCs are having a turnover of over Rs 1000 crore and membership of over hundred thousand producers. Learning wise it is very enriching and satisfying to work with these boards.I am also appointed as Director on the Board of the NDDB Dairy Services.

Designing conceptual framework including MOA and AOA for the formation of Producer Companies suitable to the potential members, business context and economic situation.Design and guide implementation of appropriate strategies for strengthening institutional character of the producer owned organisations.Develop and faciliatate need based workshops and training sessions to enable board of directors and other key stake holders to align with the envisaged goals and outcomes of the producer cenntric institutions.Work out approapriate capital building strategies for producer owned organisations.Design and assist implementation of sound governance system for Producer Companies.Been closely involved in supporting, guiding, institution building and also often leading key efforts in formation of two large milk producer Companies namely 'Paayas Milk Producer Company' and 'Maahi Milk Producer Company'. Each of these two Producer Companies will have an annual turnover of over Rs 700 crore (over 100million US Dollars). I have been appointed as Expert Director on these two Producer Companies' Board.

i) Liaise with State Governments and cooperative officials. ii) Scan environment with respect to changes or developments in political, competitors, Government policies – analyse for likely implications – opportunities or challenges. iii) Participate in the Board meetings of cooperatives iv)Facilitate providing technical assistance (in the areas of cooperatives strengthening, Productivity enhancement, Quality assurance, Dairy Plant management etc), need base support, arranging workshops/seminars based on the requests received from the dairy cooperatives.

Current responsibilities include: leading a multidisciplinary team to catalyse dairy development efforts in Bihar and Jharkhand; ensuring close coordination with State Governments and other agencies Promoting development activities: institutional development measures; establishing new/expanding old milk processing plants; promoting cooperative outreach to a larger number of villages and increased numbers of milk. Also promoting New Generation Cooperatives (Producer Companies) for dairy development.Responsible for coordinating and drafting a 15-year plan for dairy development in Bihar. Nominated board member of the cooperative milk unions and COMPFED (State Coop Dairy Federation).

Developing and designing Instuitutional development interventions for Dairy coopertaives (grass root level as well as secondary and Apex tier ccoperatives).Promoting the concept of new generation coopertaives through information sharinng/workshops in th ecountry.

As a part of five-member core team worked with cooperative milk unions’/federations’ top professionals and leaders in evolving India’s Perspective Plan 2010 for the cooperative dairy sector.Facilitating Institution Development efforts to strengthen dairy cooperatives including: development of several strategic workshop modules and training interventions for milk union board and cooperative directors and professionals. These modular interventions focused on building value-based cooperative institutions that take a long-term strategic approach to decion making.Analysed cooperative financial performance and sensitised boards to importance of improved financial performance.

Working with board and management, led turn-around of Sardar Cooperative Oilseeds Union, Idar (a 100 tpd edible oilseeds pooling, processing and marketing cooperative) from a negative to a positive net worth position.Developed computerized Integrated Business Plan Module for Cooperative Oil Unions.Developed Budget and Budgetary controls system for monitoring Cooperative Oil Unions.
