I established Sristi Foundation in 2013 to create an inclusive society where people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are respected, valued, and have choices to lead a holistic, dignified, and independent lives. In the last 10 years, our members have found work, community, and purpose through agriculture. We transformed a 8.93-acre dry and infertile land to an inclusive village that hosts several eco-friendly projects, a special school, and vocational training for our members.I am a psychologist born and raised in Pondicherry, India. I spent 15 years working at an inclusive orphanage where disabled and non-disabled children lived and grew up together. Here, I witnessed how people with intellectual disabilities (PwIDs) faced disparities when seeking jobs from employers who only saw their disabilities instead of their capabilities. Further, parents would be concerned who would care for their children as they grew older. Motivated to unleash the potential of PwIDs, I started Sristi Foundation.We are always looking for new partnerships, volunteers, visitors, and donors to join Sristi's inclusive community and support our vision.
