I worked on several bills originating from this office focused on energy and water issues, including H.R. 627 Streamlining Energy Efficiency for Schools Act of 2017 (115th Congress), which passed the House. In addition to legislation, I supported the Congressman in writing op-eds and letters to Executive agencies, prepared briefing materials for media interviews and committee hearings and responded to requests from stakeholders and other House and Senate offices. I also handled the housing, foreign affairs, immigration and transportation portfolios in the Appropriations Committee hearings.

Analyzed large-scale data from the multi-country Performance Monitoring and Accountability 2020, specifically focusing on water and sanitation access and use behavior. My results identified significant under-reporting of unsafe practices such as use of unimproved water and open defecation, and the widespread use of bottled water in urban locations to meet the water demands. My work was published in peer-reviewed journals such as PLOS ONE and in policy magazines such as IEEE Internet Policy Newsletter.

Using publicly available data from a number of government and non-government databases, I worked on variety of water policy issues such as affordable access, financing, and the impact of public opinion on democratic decision-making in the U.S. and abroad. In addition to working with local stakeholders, I consulted for federal lawmakers and state regulators, as a result of which my work was cited in policy debates. I provided consultation for the office of Sen. Chuck Schumer (NY) on the Water Resources Reform and Development Act (WRRDA) of 2014. My work on desalination on the Hudson River was cited by the Rockland County Legislature Chair Alden Wolfe and Assemblywoman Ellen Jaffee in their letters to the New York State Public Service Commission regarding a proposed $160 million desalination plant in New York.
