About Sriya Reddy
I became a journalist because of my love of writing and history. I stayed because I've never felt closer to the world. Now, I believe local news is tied to community building and I want to see it thrive. It was this mission that led me to my Master's in Journalism at Northwestern University specializing in Media Innovation and Content Strategy. The program sat at the intersection of technology, journalism and business. During my time at the Medill School of Journalism, I was a product intern at CalMatters, which taught me how a product team could align a news organization by knowing the "what" and "why" of every decision made. I graduated in June 2024 and am now working with the Reynolds Journalism Institute's Innovation Team as a Project Manager where I can use my product thinking skills and passion for local journalism to work with newsroom partners in problem solving. Before my master's degree, I was a Report for America corps member with The Dallas Morning News covering South Dallas, a community I've grown to love. South Dallas taught me a lot, but the biggest takeaway was how inaccessible the news could be. I received three degrees from my undergraduate studies at Southern Methodist University, in Journalism, History, and Corporate Communications and Public Affairs (CCPA). In college, I was the Editor-in-Chief of the school paper, The Daily Campus, where I launched a newsletter and podcast to engage students with the news. Alongside my passion for journalism, I am also passionate about South Indian breakfasts, crossword puzzles, and a good book.
Listed skills include News Writing, Copy Editing, Leadership, Research, and 2 others.
