Instructional Computing Specialist

Provide IT and operational support for the instructional computing infrastructure of the Department of Computer Science & Engineering, which consists of approximately 125 lab computers and about 60 faculty, staff, and graduate student workstations and laptops running Windows, Mac OS X, and SuSE Linux, for a user base consisting of about 2000 students, plus faculty and staff.Primary job functions fall under these categories:• Workstation Support – Hardware & software, imaging. Windows, Mac, & Linux• User Support – Account management, training, and troubleshooting.• Infrastructure Support – Database administration, scripting, process automation.• Website Maintenance – Administration of website on UNLcms (Drupal).• Digital Communications – Weekly electronic newsletter, social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn)• Telecommunications – Requests for installation, activation, relocation, and deactivation.• Procurement – P-card and eSHOP (SciQuest) electronic procurement system; over $200,000 annually• Inventory Management – Fixed assets, objects on loan, and surplus property.• Employee Supervision – Hire, train, and manage student assistants.• Employee Onboarding – Coordinate access to and claiming of accounts for new employees.• Event Coordination – Planning and organization support for special events.• Facility Administration – Report maintenance issues, update building schedules, grant card access.• Project Management – Website migrations, facility renovations, digital signage, etc.
