An opportunity came to join Blockbridge as an early engineer, helping lead development of a new storage stack from the ground up. With a focus on performance, enterprise features on commodity components, and an API-driven multi-tenant workflow, we built a software defined block storage product optimized for hardware; elastic block storage for everyone. I led the development of the distributed task subsystem, volume manager, installer, platforms, cloud integrations, host integrations, docker volume driver, kubernetes persistent volumes (CSI), containers, monitoring, build/test devops and release engineering. In addition, I was the primary collaborator in the open source community, all while sustaining and providing customer support across the product line.

After acquisition of Acopia Networks by F5 Networks, I remained as a core member of the storage virtualization team, driving new feature development while continuing to stabilize the product line. I was technical and project lead for improved metadata filesystem generation procedures that greatly reduced downtime associated with deployment, and worked passionately to improve all aspects of the product. Additionally, I led various efforts to address performance bottlenecks, remove product limitations, and solve technical problems inhibiting customer adoption.

Searching for a new challenge, I joined Acopia Networks and immediately made an impact as a core member of the storage virtualization team for the ARX product family. Officially, I was responsible for the metadata filesystem, NFS, proxy and configuration subsystems, but soon was solving complex development and customer problems across the breadth of the product. During this time, I led and contributed substantial new development efforts specifically for multi-protocol metadata filesystem, performance improvements, and snapshots support, all while concurrently supporting and sustaining the existing products in the market.*Acopia Networks was successfully acquired by F5 Networks in September of 2007.

Having been hooked on Linux and UNIX early on, my goal of doing kernel development professionally was realized at the new east coast headquarters of Sun. At Sun, I focused on Solaris kernel development of I/O technologies, primarily InfiniBand HCA device drivers, including development in support of Fast Memory Registration and Shared Receive Queues. I also led the integration of the initial InfiniBand framework support in Solaris, along with the efforts for the flash interface, performance and device verification of the HCA.
