As the Office Assistant for the Cook Family Foundation, a 501(c)3 based in Shiawasee County, I collaborated with other staff to modernize the Foundation's office and communication practices. My primarily responsibilities included revamping and improving existing databases, recreating the contact and photo management systems, and updating the website to fit growing Foundation needs.

In this position, I was responsible for traveling throughout Michigan to talk to participants in a research study jointly conducted by the University of California and University of Michigan. I gained skills in field organizing and canvassing and had the opportunity to visit dozens of different communities throughout the state.

During Representative Jim Ananich's campaign for the Special Primary Election in Michigan's 27th District (vacated by John Gleason), I assisted with field work, voter persuasion, and GOTV efforts. We canvassed neighborhoods and made phone calls on a daily basis and after a robust field operation, Jim Ananich won the Primary on March 12th. In May 2013, Rep. Ananich won the General Election and he is currently serving in the State Senate.

In my role as Campaign Manager for Andy Schor, I had many responsibilities including organizing a campaign fundraiser, preparing a districtwide mailing, handling yard sign placement (including placement and removal), submitting organization surveys, updating the campaign website, making fundraising calls, etc.In addition, following the election, I created a new website for the campaign which is easier to update and access. During the Primary Election in Michigan's 68th State House District, I served as a Field Organizer for Andy Schor. I assisted extensively with the campaign's field operation, canvassing neighborhoods seven days a week throughout the summer. In addition, I made phone calls, assisted with mailings, and helped in a variety of other capacities as needed. Andy Schor won the Primary and I served as his Campaign Manager for the General Election (see above).

During my undergraduate studies, I worked with three Ph.D candidates in the Political Science Department to conduct weekly research on various projects including:Making Democracy Safe with Megan Reif (Nov. 2009-August 2010)Computational Legal Studies with Daniel Katz (April 2011-July 2011)Online Political Speech/Political Blogosphere with Abe Gong (April 2011-April 2012)In my position as Research Assistant, I co-authored several papers, primarily regarding social media and politics. In addition, I was given the opportunity to recruit and lead a team of new researchers to assist with our projects.

During Ingrid Ault's campaign for Ann Arbor City Council, I organized the web and social media presence for the campaign. I created and maintained a campaign Facebook account, designed and purchased web ads, and assisted with website development. In addition, I assisted with field work and GOTV efforts for the campaign.

My first formal campaign experience was serving as an Intern during Ned Staebler's campaign for State Representative in 2010. I canvassed and completed other field work on a daily basis on behalf of the campaign.
