About Simon Schropp

I currently serve as Managing Economist at Sidley Austin LLP, one of the world’s leading law firms. I I manage the firm’s in-house economic consulting unit and oversee the work of a group of Ph.D.-trained economists and econometricians, as well as a network of consultants and economic experts. I launched Sidley’s Economic Analysis Unit in 2013, and built it from the ground up. The Economic Analysis Unit supports clients by applying economic concepts, principles, models, and methods to applicable legal concepts. Over the last 15 years, I have advised governments, trade associations, and private-sector clients on issues relating to international economic policy, trade policy analysis, international trade and investment disputes, regulatory issues, and competition and antitrust matters.My work has permitted me to accumulate broad sectoral experience, including in, aviation, transport and logistics, science and technology, life sciences, consumer goods, natural resources and commodities, agriculture, energy, financial services, e-commerce, and telecommunications. The trade publication Who’s Who Legal named me a “Global Elite Thought Leader” in the category Trade & Customs: Economists & Anti-Dumping Consultants from 2019-2021.
