As a nationally recognized leader in complex quantitative analysis of novel, unstructured problems in corporate litigation and public policy, Stephen Sellick brings a wealth of interdisciplinary crystallized intelligence and insight to board leadership. Leveraging his background in economics, professional services, risk management, and high-stakes litigation, Sellick brings value to boards of directors with his ability to quickly assimilate new information and apply systems thinking and shoshin (“beginner mindset”) to collaboratively identify and optimize the balance between risk and shareholder value maximization.As a consultant, Sellick is trusted by C-suite clients to provide counsel, analysis, and expert testimony for companies facing existential risks. After making partner at a prominent consulting firm, he founded Gnarus Advisors. Under his leadership, Gnarus was named as one of Consulting magazine’s “Seven Small Jewels” and recognized by Inc. magazine as one of America’s fastest-growing private companies. Sellick sold Gnarus to Nathan Associates in 2017, at which time he assumed P&L responsibility for Nathan’s private sector consulting business. While at Nathan Sellick successfully transitioned P&L leadership to his successor before he stepped back from day-to-day responsibilities. After Gnarus was re-established as independent company in 2021, Sellick was recruited by his former colleagues to re-join the firm as Board Chair. At Gnarus Mr. Sellick currently focuses on corporate governance, organizational strategy, talent acquisition and development, and business development.After stepping back from day-today management at Gnarus, Sellick has concentrated on enhancing his board skills by being active with several nonprofit boards and continuing education through courses from the Private Directors Association, Harvard University, and U.C. Berkeley. His election to board leadership roles, including the University of Chicago Harris School of Public Policy Alumni Association, the Private Directors Association San Francisco Chapter, and the Master Food Preservers of Sonoma County demonstrates his insight, collegiality and his ability to add value to those boards and their missions.Sellick holds an M.A. from the University of Chicago’s Harris School of Public Policy and a B.S. in Economics name from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He also has completed numerous certificate courses in sustainability leadership and corporate governance and completed VC University at Berkley Law Executive Education.
