I am the founding partner of MSB Solicitors and head the Crime and Regulatory team at MSB. I lead a tightly knit team of talented lawyers, most of whom trained under me and have spent their whole careers with MSB. The team is a team. All have their own strengths and particular expertise.I am a qualified Solicitor-Advocate (Higher Courts Criminal Proceedings) and specialise in representing individuals who are the subject of major criminal investigations by HMRC and in defending companies in Health and Safety criminal investigations.I have over 30 years experience in all facets of criminal law. I can lay claim to being the original “loophole lawyer” after discovering a loophole in drink driving legislation in 1992 which led to me being given that soubriquet by a number of national newspapers ( DPP v Corcoran).I was instructed by the parents of James Bulger in February 1993, eight days after James’ abduction and murder by two ten year old boys in a case which attracted worldwide media attention. I dealt with the media on behalf of James’ parents until June 1994, was instrumental in setting up the James Bulger Memorial Trust and from June 1994 to date have represented James’ mother, Denise, throughout the numerous appeals and Parole Board hearings on a pro bono basis. In consequence, I am one of the few Solicitors who has personally addressed the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg as an advocate. I have represented numerous clients in high profile cases subsequently I have defended in some of the most complex fraud cases in recent years including the largest ever pharmaceutical fraud prosecuted in the EU. My client was acquitted after a 5 month trial in Croydon Crown Court.In September 2013, I was recognised as one of the top 50 Irish lawyers practising in Britain by the Irish Post.I was described by the Legal 500 in 2015 as "a Powerhouse".I have included in the ‘Projects’ section of my profile some anonymised case studies.

I derive immense personal satisfaction from standing up for the individual against the state and protecting people when they are frightened and vulnerable.I also enjoy the celebration lunch with my clients after a big win.
