My first experience of architecture was with Purcell Miller Tritton,. As such this gave me a great foundation to develop my skills with design and also gain considerable experience working with historic buildings and the key principles of conservation.In 1996, Nicholas Jacob returned to his Suffolk to re-form his practice (formally Cleverly and Jacob). From the outset we had a real drive to create architecture which respected its historic context but also provided new and dynamic design. Our experience covers adiverse range of projects, from the West Front in Bury St Edmunds, where five houses are built within the ruins of Abbey to the development of the Buxton Crescent.Recently I have undertaken the extension and alteration of a Grade II* moated manor house, managed the repair and conservation of a Grade II* country house, and was the subject of 9 enforcement notices from the local council. Secured Planning consent for a Carbon Neutral, town house. Carried out the alteration and conservation to a collection of Grade I and II merchant warehouses to form, bars, restaurants and conferencing centre. Undertaken several schemes for re-ordering within parish churches, within Suffolk, together with repairs and extensions.I am particularly interested in timber framed structures, whether they be old or new.Having now gained considerable experience of building conservation through the projects undertaken, I believe the natural progression is to apply the same principles, techniques and in some cases materials to develop sustainable ecologically sound architecture. We have good working relationships with the Conservation Officers, throughout, east anglia, and have worked with conservation teams throughout the UK, notably in Derbyshire and Oxfordshire.
