Was assigned the task of integrating Telia's billing and number portability systems with the core and VAS network infrastructure inherited from Orange. Reusing parts of PD (southbound layer) and adding two more layers (northbound integration layer, SOM layer) have created a new provisioning system - Foton. The new system was running in parallel with Telia's provisioning system Initiator from Ericsson, until all functionality was replicated in Foton and Initiator seized to exist. That kind of systems are nowadays called "CRM with integrated real-time billing". Written in Perl 5, the system was communicating with the dial-up servers using RADIUS and TACACS+ protocols, using a local flat file database, later replaced by DB-hashes for storing AAA data. The system provided: - subscription management for postpaid - activation, deactivation, suspend, restore;- generation of accounts for the "Internet la Pachet" - a very popular prepaid dial-up product;- real-time calculations for remaining time for prepaid subscriptions with 1 second precision;- basic rating features for discount management (defining certain periods where usage of n seconds was rated as 1 second);- reporting module, providing basic business intelligence to the accounting/finance department;- a GUI based on Apache (Perl, CGI) for administrative interaction;Knowledge and experience gained from building this system was used for writing my Graduation Thesis, which has highly appreciated and granted me a University Diploma. Another interesting project in which I took active participation: mail.md - free email for everybody.
