Steve specializes in building long term relationships and providing comprehensive financial plans to upper middle-class individuals and families. During his career he has realized that his true passion is for helping families through the various, complex financial challenges they may face as they enter retirement, such as downsizing or purchasing a second home, determining when work can become "optional," and making sure family is protected in the event of a sudden emergency. Steve’s mission is to act as a true advocate for his client’s financial well-being. To achieve this mission, he is very hands on in working with his clients to define their financial, professional and life goals. Once defined he coordinates their various professional relationships with attorneys, CPA's and insurance advisors into a cohesive strategy that is aligned to achieve these goals. Prior to joining Abel Financial Management, Steve spent nearly eight years as a Financial Planner with Planning Solutions Group in Fulton, MD and Keeney Financial Group in Columbia, MD. He also had the privilege of working for Convergent Wealth Advisors, Legg Mason and NVR, Inc. He realized that most firms expect their advisors to work with hundreds of clients and impose constant sales pressures. Steve decided to make the transition to firm ownership so he could offer a more personalized experience to a limited number of families.Steve is passionate about giving back to the community. He currently lives in Eldersburg, MD with his wife Emily, newborn daughter Ryleigh and rescue dog Berger. Steve recently graduated from the Young Leadership Council which grooms future leaders in the Baltimore Jewish community and spends his free time volunteering with The Associated, a Jewish Philanthropic organization. Steve is a board member of Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc.(CHAI) in Baltimore and chairs the investment committee for their multi-million dollar housing development fund.
