• Optimize the proprietary TARA (Template-Assisted Rapid Assay) assay technology, which utilizes template dependent, enzyme-free ligation of disease-specific DNA probes to detect molecular targets of interests with minimal sample preparation, to improve assay performance and eliminate false-positive signals• Lead the integration of the TARA assay technology with the Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA) technique, which improve the detection sensitivity two to three folds down to around 1000 copy numbers of disease targets• Train and manage up to two research assistants with little-to-none prior wet-lab experiences• Present monthly project updates on behalf of the company to our academic collaborators

• Identified seeding density and absolute cell numbers as modulators of macrophage inflammatory responses in in-vitro culture systems using primary cell culture, ELISA, Western blot, immunofluorescence microscopy, and RT-qPCR, leading to three conference abstracts and one first-author manuscript• Developed and optimized a microwell-based assay to study heterogeneities in macrophage single-cell cytokine secretions and phenotypic marker expressions following pro-inflammatory activations• Compiled and optimized image processing and data analysis pipelines to process and analyze data obtained from the microwell-based single-cell assay using computational tools including MATLAB, ImageJ, and R • Managed a CHO-cell based, lab-scale production of an immunomodulatory protein, CD200 to supply the protein for our collaborator, as well as characterizing the protein product and evaluating its potency by testing on macrophages • Collaborated with different research groups to advance several joint, interdisciplinary projects • Prepared written documents and compiled figures for scientific publications, project reports, and grant proposals

• Design teaching material, lead instructions, and encourage student participation during the discussion sessions for up to 45 students to assist them in learning the materials• Collaborate with the instructor and other TA to formulate assessments, including homework and exam problems, and evaluate student performances through grading for up to 150 students• Communicate with students via in-class discussion, office hours, and email responses to clarify their questions regarding the materials covered, as well as the class logistics• Maintain research progress during my teaching commitment in the following quarter: Fall 2017 and 2018, Winter 2018 and 2020, and Spring 2018 and 2019

• Assist in the development and optimization of a microfabrication-based circulating tumor cell detection platform. • Perform cell culture duties to maintain the cell lines used for testing of the detection platform
