St. Brandon's atoll, comprising over 200 km2 of barrier reef habitat, is one of the world’s most biodiverse ecosystems. With over 25% of known marine species residing here, the archipelago covers less than 1% of the sea floor yet holds immense ecological value.· Coral Reef Management:· West of the atoll: Dominated by Acropora staghorn corals, classified as threatened by the US National Marine Fisheries Service (2014).· East of the atoll: Greater coral diversity, including rare Pavona species and sightings of Ctenella chagius Brain Corals, awaiting confirmation.· Seabird Conservation:· St. Brandon serves as a vital seabird nesting ground at both national and international levels.
