Primarily responsible for producing and maintaining Air Publication 7004 – Managing Information in the Royal Air Force. This document distils Cabinet mandated legislation and higher formation policy, direction and guidance for Information Management, Information Assurance, Information Exploitation, Data Protection and Records Management and is disseminated to 23 information hubs to support approximately 200 RAF personnel in delivering a coherent approach to using, managing and exploiting this vital asset.Secretary for the Information Governance Working Group; a 1* chaired group charged with ensuring a coherent approach to Information Management across the RAF that was in line with Cabinet and MOD direction, policy and guidance.Technical advisor to the chair of the New Style of IT Working Group; a group charged with ensuring a seamless RAF wide technical refresh of office automation software and integrated user services such as VOIP, Skype for Business and SharePoint 2013.Planned and executed an annual Command External Quality Audit schedule in accordance with ISO9001:2015 and in line with the Commanders Communication and Information Management Directive’s respectively.Ensured that the RAF maintained a level 3 Information Assurance Maturity and continued to improve towards level 4 maturity in accordance with the National Cyber Security Centre Good Practice Guide 40 and met the standards contained within ISO27001:2013

Responsible for planning, testing, deploying, sustaining and recovering large deployed voice and data packet switched networks that provided inter and intra-theatre communications to meet the expeditionary information service needs of DefenceManaged 60+ controlled power outages to allow 13 Network Equipment Rooms to be rewired to BS7671; re-engineered the network to ensure no interruption of service to the usersKept ageing, weather-beaten equipment up and running through complex repair work; provided strategically important satellite links back to the UK from Afghanistan; liaising with military personnel and civilian contractors back in the UK to ensure the planned outage procedures are followed to allow for continuity of information services.Responsible for a team of 10 technicians, ensured that they are qualified on the necessary equipment and were physically, medically and dentally fit to deploy anywhere in the world at as little as 6 hours’ notice.Project managed the installation of a temporary operations centre for 70 personnel from the Joint Force Air Component in preparation for the UK to take over as the NATO Reaction Force in 2013; included power, lighting, fibre and copper network connectivity and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). Ensured cohesion with a German Air Force Signals formation as they were the standby NATO Signals Battalion. This proved invaluable when working together in Afghanistan in the summer of 2013.

RAF Regiment Officers specialise in ground combat tactics, weaponry and field craft. They lead and direct the RAF Regiment squadrons that protect RAF bases and forward operating bases.Typical responsibilities include:Evaluate tactical situations, formulate a plan and brief troops.Lead a flight of around 30 men to protect RAF aircraft, people and bases.Operate in peacekeeping, counter terrorist and full-scale war situations.Similar civilian roles include Outward Bound manager, Police training officer, Logistics manager or Security industry training manager.Please note that I voluntarily withdrew myself from training before I completed the course.

3rd line technician on Watchman Airfield Surveillance Radar at Royal Air Force Leeming. Responsible for providing fault rectification advice over the telephone as well as traveling around the UK and the world to repair faults or carry out annual servicing tasks. Specialised on high sensitivity receivers and EHT electricity generation and stabilisation. When in the UK, I was responsible for ensuring that there were sufficient spares to maintain Service Level Agreed output levels.I completed formal training on the Crown Watchman Airfield Surveillance Radar. I am familiar with Cardion Secondary Surveillance Radar, AN/TRN26 TACAN and SMGS, Park Air, Frequentis and Havequick GTA VHF/UHF radios. I also have experience with PAGL and DAGL lighting systems.

3rd and 4th line technician on 50-year-old Soviet built Surface to Air Missile systems at the Electronic Warfare and Tactics Range, Royal Air Force Spadeadam. Responsible for all scheduled, preventative and corrective maintenance. Experienced on high power RF and EHT electricity generation and stabilisation. Relied on constant communication with many other agencies, both civilian and military. This type of employment required resourcefulness, initiative and flexibility to ensure maximum operational output. Required the ability to decipher technical instructions and diagrams written in German and Russian.
