Reporting to the President of the University of South Carolina, leads and promotes efforts to create a more user-friendly university. Guides institutional transformation in partnership with university leaders by:• Facilitating projects to improve and streamline key processes• Providing business portfolio/operations review and strategy alignment and implementation• Developing a set of practical tools and resources for process efficiency and effectiveness • Building knowledge and expertise to embed improvement practices throughout the university• Building organizational capacity for change Leads an organizational excellence team that provides tools and resources throughout the university and creates capacity and expertise to facilitate an exceptional customer experience. Partners closely with USC-Columbia colleges, schools, divisions, and departments to streamline and enhance the user experience across areas and functions. Fosters innovation and solutions that meet current and future customer needs.

Fiscal management of the Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support’s $100 million operating budget, including the businesses of housing; scholarships, discounting, and pricing; student health services; student success and career outcomes. Serve as division chief operating officer. Risk management to include recent leadership of university COVID-19 Future Planning Group team to ensure operational continuity, customer service, and financial sustainability. Demonstrate value of business solutions in a non-business environment and facilitate partnerships to drive metric-based results. Directly lead a diverse and dynamic team of more than 400 full-time employees and over 700 temporary employees, including the following areas: Communications, Finance, Human Resources, Information Technology, University Housing, Career Center, Student Success Center, National Resource Center for the First-Year Experience, University 101 Programs. Management of institutional undergraduate scholarship budget in excess of $120 million, balancing both merit and need-based aid and maximizing net tuition. Leadership for division capital planning to ensure prioritization of key needs, alignment of plans with resources, and management of required approval processes. Address requests for information from various external constituents and serve as primary media representative for areas of responsibility in partnership with University Communications. Promote a culture of process improvement and efficiency through alignment of strategic and operational plans driven by performance metrics. Implement change readiness initiatives to move beyond reactive change management.

Leads fundraising strategy and execution as chief fundraising officer for the University of South Carolina. In partnership with internal and external stakeholders, develops and implements a fundraising plan to foster stewardship and expand giving. Ensures structures, systems and processes advance institutional goals. Cultivates a culture of respect, inclusion and accountability.

Manage Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support operating budget of over $85 million, representing tuition funds, auxiliary funds, grant funds, sales and service funds, student activity funds, and designated funds. Administer the institution’s undergraduate scholarship budget, coordinating awarding practices with available resources, measuring the effectiveness of awarding strategies, and monitoring national best practices and trends. Serve on University Capital Operations Planning Subcommittee, charged with developing practical and feasible solutions for institutional capital needs. Manage Division of Student Affairs and Academic Support capital planning process, prioritize needs, and evaluate financial feasibility of proposals, including proforma review, institutional justification, and timing. Chaired University Data Administration Advisory Committee, charged with providing strategic direction to facilitate accurate, consistent, and accessible information reporting throughout the USC system. Provide audit advisory support to all Division departments, particularly highly regulated areas such as Financial Aid and Scholarships, Disability Services, and Student Health Services. Determine Division operational funding needs, develop fee and funding proposals, and submit and justify requests to institutional leadership and Board of Trustees. Approve and authorize all human resources actions for approximately 600 permanent staff and over 1100 temporary employees; address and resolve sensitive employment, management, and grievance issues. Facilitate development of training, recognition, and other professional development programs for the Division. Manage overall finance, HR, IT and communications functions for the Division. Responsible for institutional project management to include the Student Success Collaborative, Orientation Design Advisory Committee, Title IX Compliance Group, and other opportunities for enhanced collaboration and service delivery.
