OC Habitats is a nonprofit organization that serves the Orange County, California. Our goal is to provide monitoring of sensitive habitats and species, provide education through public outreach and classroom programs, and to assist in habitat restoration where necessary. We are entirely volunteer-based at this time and are expanding our efforts from beach habitats into estuaries. We are always looking for partners that have a passion for habitat conservation.

Worked predominantly with the protection of threatened Western Snowy Plover on the Balboa Peninsula but also worked within the protected tidepools in Corona del Mar. I built a volunteer monitoring team that monitored the status of the peninsula year round. I designed the initial proposal to help City of Newport Beach come into compliance with California Coastal Commission and US Fish and Wildlife services parameters. I presented the status of the area to a large group of City of Newport Beach departments to keep them in the loop as to what was happening on the sand. Worked with colleagues to present marine education to public through field trips, educational outreach, and classroom instruction. In addition to these responsibilities, I was in charge of scheduling all ISOpod outreach events for public and for all field trip reservations.

Managed the weekly and monthly reservations at a vacation property in Newport Beach. This required organizational skills, scheduling, and public interface with standing and potential clients.

Researched, wrote, and helped clients to implement CEQA rules and regulations through communications and required documents for various projects in Riverside andSan Diego Counties Performed field studies for CEQA compliance and determined the presence of wetlands and biologicalhabitats and species in Orange County.Professional Experience (Post Graduate); Managed large scale land development projects in Riverside and San Diego Counties. Theseprojects required planning, project design, environmental evaluation, testing, and compliance with local, state andfederal standards.

Worked primarily with wetland and “waters of the U.S.” permitting issues, such as StreambedAlteration Agreements, 404 and 401 permits in order to obtain environmental compliance for private companies andpublic agencies such as Talega Associates, The Irvine Company, Orange County Transportation Authority, and theCity of Corona. I was responsible for preparing proposals, doing field surveys, and acting as liaison between clientsand federal, state and local agencies.

Conducted instruction and maintained class order in the absence of regular teacher.

Rancho Alamitos High School, Fall 1995, 9th and 10th grade general science, and biology.

Worked on a variety of tasks specifically related to botany and zoology. Performed vegetation mapping andmammal trapping as well as research and analysis for a critical habitat location of several endangered species.

Operations - Maintained production, sales and inventory reports for ethanol fuel corporation. Created an operationsmanual for the operations department as well as converted existing programs, which included reports and analysesfrom DOS to Windows applications. Learned various positions within the company in order to assist otheremployees.

Prepared labs for introductory college chemistry courses.

Performed chemical research for Dr. John Tate and Dr. Larry Mink, professors of Chemistry.

Worked with this Transportation Management Association (TMA) to learn both business and environmentalskills. Became familiar with air quality issues and solutions in Southern California specific to automobiles and traffic.
