Supporting, advising and campaigning with single mums and dads to help them meet their family’s needs.Since 1918 we’ve been supporting, advising and campaigning with single parents to help them meet their family’s needs and achieve their goals.Whatever success means to a single parent – a healthy family, a flexible job, stable finances, or a chance to study – we work with them to make it happen.Our helpline and online advice help single parents make confident choices about their family’s future, and our training programmes help them develop their skills and get jobs that fit with their families. Our campaigning with single parents ensures their voices are heard, whilst our friendship groups, online forums and supportive membership make sure no single parent has to feel like they’re raising a family alone.As one single parent told us, Delivering intensive one to one and group training around pre employment, self esteem, confidence, and interpersonal skills for single parents who are experiencing barriers that prevent them to source suitable employment. Support clients to remove the barriers faced as a single parent, via intense mentoring. Liaising and working in partnership with reputable companies in order to provide work training opportunities for disadvantaged client group which is successfully achieved by networking and building reputable working relationships with wider organisations and services in order to provide a holistic and supportive service to ensure our clients receive the correct support. within my role I also work with local businesses to support clients to gain employment by arranging work placements and work trials in order to support progression and sustainment.

working within a highly challenging environment under immense pressure often working around rigid and tight deadlines in order to safeguard and protect families. Providing intensive support to children and families within a refugeCarrying out risk assessments, i.e Marac and CAT and attending safe guarding and multi agency meetings.Assessing applications to determine suitability for service and put in place support packages to access appropriate services. Working in close partnership with the police, social services and other professionals. Supporting clients to access counselling, housing, legal and other services to meet their support need. Ensuring the project is a safe environment for clients by carrying out daily H&S checks and issuing warnings and reporting incidents.

Supporting young mothers within a supported housing unit to gain independenceKey worker to residents providing weekly support sessions (Housing Options & Goals Maintaining health and safety standards for residents are of high standard. this included carrying out daily Health and safety checks and adhering to Safeguarding polices. Building positive & strong relationships to enable them to raise self esteem and aspirations Arranging weekly activities to engage and encourage participation

Supporting hard to reach, challenging and emotionally detached 16-18 year old males due for release from Young Offenders Institutions. Building positive and trusting relationships during their time in the establishment to offer a successful transition for when they return to the local community. Enabling and supporting them to live independently by mentoring, addressing mental health, pre existing drug and alcohol dependency. in order to achieve this was by supporting them to acquire the skills to successfully achieve by barriers to move into education, training and employment which are preventing positive outcomes Resettlement back into the community by addressing specific issues/ barriers

Working with young people aged 13-25 years in South Manchester. My role as Health development worker involvedDelivering health sessions to young people including, setting up teenage support groups for young mothers.Enabling young people them to access safe, free, confidential advice and services where they feel free to make informed choices. Implementing new and different methods to engage clients to access health services, (primarily sexual health).Multi-agency working with relevant organisations and services, in order to target and offer important advice and services on issues faced by young people.Regular out-reach work with local schools, colleges, and youth centres.Training young people to become peer educators to deliver health, equality, poverty and many other social issues to other peers.
