Whilst in this position i managed a 37 bed retirement living scheme providing intensive housing management and support to all tenants.

While in this role i work in the community and I offer different types of care to each individual I visit. I care for people who have a range of disabilities both physical and mental. Each visit is different I can provide medications, personal care, household care, pet care, social or shopping support and more dependant on what care is required. Each person needs up to date care plans so these are always being updated to ensure the correct care is given.

While working as a support worker caring for people with a range of learning disabilities and mental health disabilities, keeping the clients independence was pivotal to the care i provided. A typical day could include supporting a person with personal care if needed including using a hoist, bathing or just prompting if the service user is able to do this themselves. On many occasions i have been the shift leader which means that i would need to organise the staff on shift to do tasks to make sure the service users needs are all met, ordering and booking in of medications and arranging cover for shifts where needed. Aswell as working part of a team i generally work on 1 to 1 basis with service users and in the community supporting service users in there home. Also I support with escorting out to do shopping and going to the bank when needed, attending medical appointments or leisure activities to help the individual fulfil their lives as independently as possible. It is also my responsibility to dispense medications and promote good health. I have to help with meals and bed time activities as well as conflict resolution between the service users. I also briefly worked in Lady croft respite care home to train and completed a first aid course that included treatment of choking using chest thrusts, CPR, defibrillation and use of epi pens. I completed daily reports and spent time with the service users while adhering to each personal care plans.

While here I was working as a mental health recovery support worker in a hospital setting. I provided advice and information to patients, carried out assessments, recovery care plan reviews, facilitate group work and social activities and helping to promote independent living skills where possible and helping to find suitable accomidation to progress onto as well as good physical and mental health. I form part of a multi-disciplinary team and work with other agencies to ensure all the service users' needs are met as well as working alongside doctors and psychologists in CBT and DBT sessions. William hills is a bookmakers company where I had many responsibilities including opening and closing the shop, banking and paying large amounts of money ensuring the companies policies on money laundering, protecting vulnerable people and many others where upheld. I had to make sure all end of day paperwork was completed as well as daily checks within the building. My main achievements while here was I started off as a cashier taking and translating bets on the computer I then progressed to opening and closing the shop and running it on managers' days off and doing deputy managers training. I also passed a retail eyes inspection with a top score I was the adviser who greeted, helped and served during the inspection.

In the time I was here my main achievements were learning the basic skills of working including time keeping adhering by company policies, working to goals set and organisation skills.I also had input to help with health and safety where the dogs where being washed and cut.I had to work quickly and efficiently to adhere to customer requests and times set for the animals to be returned on time to their owners whilst making sure the dogs were being treated correctly.
