As Executive Director, I work with the talented GPA staff, board members and supporters to drive the strategic vision of the organization and ensure GPA achieves its mission to empower communities and improve child and maternal health in marginalized areas in Latin America, efficiently and effectively. Our programs work with indigenous midwives to teach life-saving skills, and we provide small grant funding for community-designed projects to bring clean water and sanitation to remote communities in order to improve the quality of life for women and children, and reduce the number of deaths from preventable causes. Responsible for developing and implementing the Baby Basics Program for The What to Expect Foundation in Bangladesh and Liberia, including overseeing the creation of a culturally-appropriate low-literate pregnancy guide, developing an international training curriculum, forming partnerships with stakeholders, managing in-country teams and overseeing the programmatic aspects of our $1.7 million grant from the U.S. State Department’s Office of Global Women’s Issues. I continue to work with the program in both countries as a consultant.

Managed the social media and capacity building program that delivered cutting-edge technology training to over 100 NGOs throughout Jordan and Lebanon. In my previous position as program manager for the Global Initiative for Breast Cancer Awareness in Latin America, I successfully launched and directed a global advocacy, training and education program in Latin America which has led to the creation of a network of nearly 500 breast cancer advocates, collaboration with dozens of local partner organizations, thousands of women screened and hundreds of health professionals trained.

Managed the strategic planning, operations, development efforts and financial systems for the Mexico program comprised of a team of international volunteers working to protect human rights defenders in Mexico. Collaboration included working with embassies and PBI country groups in 18 countries.

Rockport, Maine; Havana, Cuba

Directed a large photo and film workshop program in Havana, Cuba, which totaled more than 200 international students per term and over 25 workshops combined per program. Liaised with U.S. and Cuban government officials, arts organizations and world renowned artists to create cultural and educational exchanges.

Part of the development team responsible for acquiring $50 million grant from Lily Endowment Inc., making HSF the largest Hispanic scholarship non-profit in the U.S. Successfully grew small accounts to become major donors, such as Pfizer Inc., which increased funding from $7,000 to $350,000 and represented the organization at numerous speaking and media events throughout the country.

Responsible for successfully cultivating international funding from major grant makers to this sister organization of the Global Fund for Women. Collaborated on the seed funding program for women’s rights, health and economic empowerment projects throughout Mexico. Developed and implemented long-term business plan and oversaw development of marketing and communication materials.
