When you are growing up you feel like the adults have all the power and when you are a child you believe it. You are not sure if what they were doing is right or wrong so you didn't say anything. The adult in the situation telling you things like "its our little secret" "lets play a game but you cant tell anyone" "no one will believe you". You keep their "secret" for years but you play it over in your head everyday. We understand because The Childhood Abuse Support Team - CAST have been at the hands of an Adult who abused their trust. We kept the secret till adulthood then had a mental breakdown due to the stress of not talking but knowing something was wrong. We reported the abuser and long story short they got convicted and were sent to prison. When you talk about your experience you do not expect the service to do anything as they cannot, you want an open space to talk, feel comfortable and to feel heard and understood. We wont ask you to change anything, wont ask questions, we are here to listen to you not therapize.
