Provided expert auditing and accounting services in investigations involving complex financial transactions. Investigations were specific to reimbursements received under Federal and/or State healthcare programs. Cases included Medicare Part A, Medicare Part B, Medicaid and Tri Care.

Responsible for the completion and final settlement of all cost reports for firm’s healthcare clients. Client base ranged from large healthcare systems to small rural hospitals. Routinely consulted clients on new reimbursement payment systems. Worked with financial auditors in determining the appropriate adjustments necessary for their Medicare accounts at year end. Trained entire staff annually on Regulation changes made to Medicare Cost Reporting.​Liaison between the healthcare provider and Medicare Intermediary to ensure reviews were completed efficiently and in the best interest of the healthcare provider. Created comprehensive cost report training manual which was updated annually to incorporate Federal legislative changes. Worked with the State of Oklahoma to determine if rural hospitals would benefit from becoming Critical Access Hospitals. Reviewed Medicare Cost Reports prepared by other firms to ensure proper settlement. Medicare Cost Reports were amended or reopened as necessary. Prepared Sole Community Hospital applications as well as Geographic Reclassifications. Cost reports were reviewed with clients before being filed to identify any corrections necessary. Tracked healthcare legislation for new Medicare regulations and provided consulting to clients on the impact of these new regulations on their current reimbursement. Worked for the HCFA contracted intermediary to audit and settle Medicare Cost Reports. Traveled throughout the state of Oklahoma to complete focused reviews as well as audits. Instructed providers on how to better comply with Medicare Regulations. Proficient in technical aspects of the Medicare Cost Report form 2552-96.

Worked in a team setting to complete financial and compliance audits. Reviewed work prepared by staff auditors. Achieved improved efficiencies by properly updating prior year’s audit program and prepared management letter comments to instruct clients on weaknesses in internal control.
