"Obstacles don't have to stop you. If you run into a wall, don't turn around and give up. Instead, figure out how to climb it, go through it, or work around it."… Michael Jordan, Basketball Legend Having spent years working alone in B.C.'s spectacular rural areas, I learned first-hand that I had to rely on my own talents - a highly-dedicated work ethic, a penchant for independent thinking and self-sufficiency, and a solutions-driven mindset - in order to guarantee optimum client satisfaction. While on site, one can't walk across the hall, seek a colleague's advice, and collectively map out an action plan to eventually tackle a problem; rather, the problem had to be resolved - swiftly and accurately. This is where I excel.I am humbled by the fact that I have earned an industry-wide reputation as someone who can be counted on by construction veterans to get the job done right the first time. Why? (1) I offer extensive knowledge of civil construction, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical, and material science, and (2) I am the first one on the job and the last to leave - especially when pressure-sensitive deadlines must be met. Skilled at adjusting my presentation style to individualized audience needs, I can easily distill complex terminology into easy-to-understand language.A hands-on mentor, I quickly build rapport across cultural boundaries where up to 20 nationalities are represented on site; in fact, I have bridged gaps on numerous occasions involving stakeholders (e.g., First Nations representatives, regulatory bodies, government officials from provincial ministries, investors, field personnel, financiers, top managers, key decision-makers, and members of the general public) to rally them around a common cause. Finally, I intuitively identify operational inconsistencies when faced with extremely rough terrain and inclement weather conditions, and I typically pick the right people for the job to restore overall functionality.

I also supervise as many as 40 onsite personnel and the construction works when in full construction mode to ensure that they adhere to all applicable safety, environmental, and quality programs. Senior management regularly entrusted me to make daily decisions on acquisitions ranging from $5K to $30K.* I played a pivotal role in bringing the $20M Ha-Aak-Suuk Creek Hydroelectric Project on time and on budget (despite the threat of going 6 months beyond deadline and 10% over budget) by: * identifying and correcting a multitude of design flaws that saved in excess of $1M. * mediating - and realizing successful outcomes - between the contractor and up to 10 subcontractors who experienced constant disagreements. PROJECT ENGINEER & CONSTRUCTION MANAGERThe Construction Managed picked me to join the organization (when it was initially known as Cloudworks) where I was challenged with developing and constructing the 19 MW Run-of-River North West Stave Hydro Electric Project in B.C.'s lower mainland - all the while functioning as vital liaison between all stakeholders. In this role, I supervised between 20 and 30 on-site direct reports.* I sought out a team of First Nations personnel, and trained this team to operate crew boats and heavy equipment so they were better equipped when seeking future employment. In addition, I coached 2 eager-to-learn First Nations representatives who went on to become a carpenter and a mechanic. Show less -

FIELD ENGINEEROriginally, I was hired as an Environmental Coordinator to oversee 6 hydroelectric projects; just 2 years later, I won a Field Engineer role when Peter Kiewit acquired the coveted PMH1 highway project valued at between $3.0B and $3.5B. As Drainage Engineer and Crew Leader for this project's East segment, I collaborated with Environmental and Utilities Dept. representatives to guarantee that all watercourse modifications were performed with minimal disturbance, and in accordance with all permits and design plans.* As part of a 400-person team, I completed all 6 Cloudworks Hydro projects up to 6 months ahead of schedule and on budget - despite inheriting a legacy of numerous environmental mishaps from my predecessor.* I transformed one particular "challenging" 8-person work crew with different agendas into one of the project's highest-producing work teams by instilling the pride experienced with surpassing ambitious performance goals.* I created an environmental stewardship program that recognized and awarded staff members for exemplary contributions.* On my own initiative, I educated the workforce on environmental concerns during all 6 Cloudworks projects in order to achieve regulatory compliance.
