    Throughout my time at the U of O SOJC, I was pushed in my writing skills and how to best grab an audience. I was able to conduct several interviews outside of Duck TV Sports with former NFL players, current NCAA football coaches, former student athletes, etc. and feel confident in asking the right questions and knowing how to find the story in an interview. I have been able to produce video and writing projects that convey a message beyond the sport, and into the passion and the meaning behind the game. I took part in a one week workshop through the University in June 2017 that paired journalism students and student athletes together to embellish on their brand and skills. I accomplished: • First-hand interview experience: conducted a 45 minute interview covering all aspects of the athlete’s life and career• Deep research into his upbringing and into his journey to the University to prepare for the interview• Found my brand and my specific ambition in sports broadcasting, connecting the audience to the athlete on a personal level, not just as a player.
