PGx is particularly useful in the treatment of mental health conditions, where the needs are higher than ever before. Incorporating PGx into treatment decisions has the potential to improve efficacy rates, decrease risk of side effects or harm, and reduce time to finding the right treatment. We specialize in interpreting PGx results, providing tailored prescribing recommendations to help health providers bridge the gap between complex genetic data and practical treatment decisions. We can also help patients select the right PGx test for them based on their goals and navigate insurance coverage to maximize reimbursement (as some insurance companies only reimburse specific tests).Deprescribing is the planned, supervised process of reducing the dose or stopping medications for which the benefits no longer outweigh the risks. Utilizing a pharmacist who specializes in this is especially useful for medications which require tapering to reduce the risk of rebound or withdrawal symptoms (i.e. antidepressants, benzodiazepines, opioids, proton pump inhibitors, etc.). We create personalized tapering protocols to make prescribing easy for their care team, and check in with patients at each dose reduction to optimize success. Tapering can sometimes involve compounded medication, for which dosing guidelines are not always easily accessible. We also provide in depth, 'deprescribing focused' medication reviews for patients on multiple medications looking to reduce pill burden, reduce risk of falls, hospitalizations, etc. We work in collaboration with their doctor(s) and care team and am not affiliated with any pharmacy.
