I'm a puzzle person - I love to solve them, whether it's a cryptogram on the plane, making sure I can get my food drop boxes along the Appalachian Trail, or finding the best way to solve a client's problem. In my career, I’ve found my tenacity has served me well. I’ve had the opportunity to solve a myriad of diverse, complex problems and spend more than 25 years in the company of good people dedicated to continuous improvement. As a lifelong nature-lover, I have also had the chance to explore some fascinating aspects of environmental work. Some of my favorite moments of "overcoming" throughout my career have been:Stepping in as liaison between a brilliant but “difficult” colleague and a chemical client’s environmental manager to complete an air permitting project, suggesting improvements to the client’s processes, and healing the relationship between the client and my firm. This resulted in additional sole-source work in excess of $150,000.Taking over a building construction project that had gone on far too long and had been managed by so many people that no one could name them all. It was work outside my experience, but construction was completed with zero injuries or permit issues, and the finished product was put into service.Establishing a relationship with a discontented resident whose drinking water supply well had been impacted by a gasoline release, allowing my employer to successfully propose, negotiate, and implement mitigation measures on behalf of our client without involving attorneys or incurring penalties from the regulator.
