Aug 2017 - Jul 2019

Creative Director

Overland Park, Kansas

I led a small but mighty creative team to effectively meet the needs of an imaginative entrepreneur who owns a variety of travel and leisure businesses. Working closely with the Executive Team, Technology Services and Managers, I executed solutions to meet communication goals within budget using our technologies. I educated and informed travel club members and retail customers about our services by writing copy and directing the graphic design of comprehensive guide books, brochures, newsletters and advertisements as well as complicated fulfillment websites and email marketing. I launched the social media initiative in 2010, starting with Facebook, leading to Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, YouTube and Google+, striving for transparency as we not only share informative, engaging content but answer consumer questions and concerns. I launched all the blogs for multiple brands, responsible for conceptualizing compelling content I write and assign to staff writers. I developed a vacation photo contest in 2009 that continues to this day, a strategic plan to gather positive travel experiences while building an image library used in Content Marketing and advertising campaigns. I led a social media contest for bucket list wishes that resulted in producing a six-part video series featuring the heartfelt, on-site family reveals. I sourced and negotiated all types of printed and promotional materials. Plus, I regularly planned charity fundraisers with our Committee of Awesomeness, including the Hot Dog Games based off of the popular "Hunger Games" movies. I served on the planning committee for Guns N Hoses, an annual charity boxing event supporting the Kansas City Crime Commission’s S.A.F.E. program, for five years. And I conceived and planned a charity golf tournament benefiting Hope House that raised funds for a local domestic abuse shelter.

Mar 2004 - May 2017

Creative Director

Overland Park, Kansas

TITLE Boxing Club was brought to me by the owner of Global Connections the week of Thanksgiving, 2007. In addition to the travel club assignments, I was tasked with creating a brand for boxing and kickboxing fitness classes opening January 1, 2008. I was instrumental in directing the creation of the logo and marketing messages for the home of the POWER HOUR, a brand-new workout style for the Kansas City market. Using social media, radio, print, digital and video, we set the tone and overall look and feel for the brand. I oversaw photo and video shoots featuring members, securing necessary model releases and directing the shots. We launched the social media initiative with Facebook and Twitter and established a strong voice on the popular platform. I was the editor of a monthly newsletter featuring club openings, events and weight loss success stories. The entire communication and tone were set by me and my graphic designer. We took one club to three in just two years and entered franchising in 2010. To efficiently meet the marketing demands of our growing number of franchise owners, I sourced an online print solution to streamline their ability to customize print materials we created, and a web hub to offer resources for new marketing material creation. I also worked with radio representatives, media buyers, advertising agencies and social media companies to build brand awareness in new cities while enforcing brand compliance throughout the franchise system. I introduced prospective franchisees to the concept in hour-long presentations every two weeks, and once a month I taught franchisees how to advertise and market the fitness club without compromising the developed brand in four hour classes. As of December 2012, there were 42 TITLE Boxing Clubs open and close to 400 franchise clubs sold across the country. At the end of 2012, all the responsibility for the clubs was handed off to a full-time marketing director for TITLE Boxing Club.

I created advertising for senior retirement communities that was strategically appropriate for each client and their target market, working with the vice president of creative, senior account executives, junior account executives and account coordinators. I played an important role in analyzing the needs of the client to create effective newsletters, websites, direct mail pieces, brochures and invitations that were concise, keeping with the established tone and feeling, or in the case of a new account, creating a personality for the retirement community. I routinely interviewed community residents and staff to produce compelling feature stories that enticed other seniors to relocate to a retirement community. I worked with the account team to brainstorm editorial calendars, tag lines and titles as well as contributed to art direction. I was awarded gold, silver, bronze and merit awards for my work from the Mature Media Awards.
