I am so very happy to announce that in September of 2024, I had the privilege of becoming an Indigenous Relationship Partner with EBC Inc. I am proud to join EBC's efforts towards relationship building for our company in relation to major projects in the Ottawa region, located on the unceded, unsurrendered Algonquin Territory. Initially, my role is to engage and collaborate with Indigenous communities, groups, and leaders; to build relationships and listen to the history and stories and needs of others, so that this knowledge can guide our efforts in the work we perform, and how we perform it. This initial focus is on the 11 Algonquin communities with territorial claims in the Ottawa region, and will also expand to other communities where we can continue to build and grow relationships.I will share opportunities for community and individual development, employment, and investment, and I hope to build mutually beneficial relationships through these opportunities and investments. Furthermore, I hope to encourage youth and adults to join efforts in building Canada's future, by developing their skills in STEM and skilled trades, looking for opportunities to collaborate and align needs and efforts both in and out of community. I am excited for this new chapter and the opportunity that EBC has provided to me in my 10th year with this organization.

We work in the mining, heavy civil construction, road building, water and sewer, and energy sectors. My role is the same as an HR Business Partner, and my responsibilities include:>Recruitment: Managing the recruitment needs for the organization, including creating and posting of job advertisements, completing interviews and reference checks, as well as preparing job offers and employment contracts.>Labour Relations: The management of labour relations of a unionized workforce, including negotiating Collective Agreements, managing grievances, and advising Management on issues related to these matters.>Policies: The development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and Collective Agreements, providing guidance and settling any interpretation issues; Additionally, regularly reviewing and updating policies to ensure compliance with appropriate Employment Standards and Legislation.>Workplace Investigations: Completion of workplace investigations as they relate to Union grievances, human rights violations, or the violation of company policies, procedures, rules, etc.>Benefits and Disability: The management and administration of our benefits program (staff and unionized hourly workers).>WSIB: The management of our WSIB claims, including preparation and submission of documentation and follow ups with employees.>Employee Training: Ensuring personnel receive appropriate training for various worksites, tracking site access requirements, etc.>Document Control: Maintaining digital employee files.>General: Providing guidance to the Management team on issues relating to Human Resources.>Payroll: Provide backup support to our payroll department and sites, as required. >Accounting: Provide backup support to our accounting department (purchasing and receiving), as required.
