Central Michigan University (CMU) is a public research university located in Mt. Pleasant, Michigan, and one of the largest in the state of Michigan with more than 20,000 students located on campus. CMU has eight academic divisions, including the College of Science and Engineering which houses the Department of Geography & Environmental Studies. The department specializes in providing its 100+ majors and minors with specialized coursework in geospatial information systems, environmental systems, and the study of human-environment interactions. In my role as Assistant Professor, I taught and developed courses in human geography and geography education, served as an advisor for students in course and major selection, internship attainment, career guidance, and graduate school applications, and conducted research. I also serve on the Curriculum and Assessment Committee charged with course creation and program review, and the College Active Learning Committee, which organizes workshops for faculty development.

The Department of Educational Theory and Practice houses graduate-level programs that rank consistently in the top ten Best Education Programs as rated by the US World and News Report. - Created a YouTube video series, Three Minute Theory, that explained complex philosophical concepts often encountered by graduate students and academics, in short, three-minute videos and garnered over nearly 1 million views. - Designed and implemented cutting-edge technology and teaching approaches resulting in being ranked in the top 5% of faculty as determined by student opinion surveys. - Served as a research assistant on a $515k grant from the National Science Foundation to support improved science education practices for students whose first language was not English. - Published 2 peer-reviewed journal articles as a doctoral student about innovative educational technology practices and uses of geospatial technologies for the training of teacher- Taught on site classes for pre-service teachers at local high schools, which included co-teaching and co-planning in high school classrooms
