I am currently studying Business at the University of the West of Scotland, Paisley. This is a four year undergraduate degree where I will gain practical and dynamic skills in all areas of business including, Marketing, HR, Accounts and Law.I also work part-time for the fashion retailer Matalan - the largest UK out-of-town discount clothingThis is where I spend my weekend and evening as well as days I am not at University.Working in retail has allowed me to gain a practical and personal view of how a business is run. I have completed many different roles in Matalan and have gained many new skills including, Customer Service, Visual Merchandising and commercial awareness. I am frequently left in charge of a department and I am able in this time to put any skills i have been taught into practice. I was also lucky enough to be nominated a till champion allowing me to carry keys for the safe and complete managerial functions on till points. As well as gaining more responsibility in the store i am based, I was also able to further my career with the company when I chosen to visit our new store in glasgow for a week of night shifts to assist staff working there in ensuring the store was meeting all the requirement and standards a new store is set. I have also gained valuable experience in the skills of dealing with customer concerns, working as part of a team and working well under pressure as well as adapting to new surrounding and to complete the task in hand
