Originally from Austin, Minnesota, I earned my degree in Psychology, with an emphasis on Family Relationships and Child Development, from Winona State University. Early experience working with children and adults with developmental disabilities and/or mental illness helped to define my career path. My true passion lies in providing exceptional care and treatment for individuals with special needs, while ensuring an environment rich in experience and warmth. Realizing that feedback is the key to growth and improvement, I have an “open door” policy where customers', co-workers' and supervisors’ feedback is welcome and encouraged. My passion for special education arose from my time as assistant director of a private preschool in Texas. After taking a few years out of the workforce to be a stay-at-home mom, I re-entered the job market as a paraprofessional. It was through this position that I realized my calling and returned to school to obtain my teaching license in special education. The emphasis in working with students with EBDs is rooted in my background, and I work tirelessly to support classrooms that promote social-emotional learning, as well as academic instruction.
