Stacey Scott is a career entrepreneur, small business founder and innovator in the field of training. She started her first company at 17 with 10+ employees. She was the first minority woman to graduate from UCLA with a BS in Computer Science & Engineering and immediately landed in the labs at Hewlett Packard. Stacey wasn’t long for the corporate world. By the age of 25, she launched a custom software development and training business, working with clients like Southern California Gas. As software became more prevalent, she focused on training end users. In 1999, Stacey led the first company to provide virtual instructor-led training to corporate America. The virtual meetings that we all take for granted today, from the classroom to the boardroom, were unheard of at the time. Stacey’s company played a pivotal role scaling WebEx from 24 to 400 employees over two years, supporting them through their IPO. Stacey’s end-user education program was instrumental driving growth during this time, with fast, effective onboarding, adoption and customer retention. This was the soft launch of Elgia, Stacey’s virtual instructor-led training business named after her great-grandmother. In 2001, Elgia was formally incorporated with AT&T and Global Crossing as the first customers. Elgia was included in the Inc. 5000 Fastest Growing Companies three years in a row. Elgia was GMSDC’s Class II Supplier of the Year. And Stacey has been recognized as Atlanta Business League’s Outstanding Achievement Woman of the Year and the Greater Women Business Council Trailblazer of the Year.More than 20+ years of experience developing innovative software training programs has given Stacey a unique perspective on the nature of training, the evolution of software, the advancement of users, along with a keen sense of the challenges those users face today. With her newest product offering, Stacey aspires to turn training upside down. Driven by human-centered design rather than instructional design, Elgia’s platform focuses on users’ needs and goals with a personalized, task-oriented, demand-driven approach to training that can apply across multiple disciplines.
