• Secured millions of dollars in funding for conservation, trail development, and program support through federal, state, corporate and private sources, including Land and Water Conservation Fund, Altria, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Walton Family Foundation.• Led a multi-state, interagency effort to develop nearly 140 miles of water trails along the Waccamaw River in North and South Carolina, resulting in the Waccamaw’s designation as a National Water Trail by the National Park Service, improved recreation, economic development and the protection of thousands of acres of riverside land. • Established partnerships with chambers of commerce and economic development entities, creating extensive marketing campaigns to promote outdoor recreation which resulted in measurable economic growth and increased ecotourism.• Successfully advocated at the local, state, and federal level to develop and build support for policies that promote clean water, conservation and recreation priorities. • Facilitated diverse stakeholder collaborations, including working with mayors along the Mississippi River to pass 15 proclamations supporting clean water policies and partnering with Webster County and the City of Fort Dodge to create a riverfront master plan.• Managed staff, budget, public outreach and implementation for a variety of complex conservation and river restoration projects that have included land acquisitions, dam removal, green infrastructure and water trail development.• Coordinated and led numerous trainings and workshops for tax attorneys and accountants on the tax benefits associated with private land conservation and the benefits of natural river restoration.

• Led a series of community meetings and planning charrettes with the EPA and local stakeholders focused on the incorporation of Smart Growth principles and sustainable development along the rapidly growing South Carolina coast.• Facilitated efforts with local governments and community partners to update stormwater, zoning and land use ordinances, resulting in requirements that protect clean water and prevent flooding.
