Responsible for managing all aspects of ESD 112’s and ESD 123’s workers’ compensation claims handling, including personnel management; policy development; and customer relations. Essential functions include, coordination of all activities related to Workers’ Compensation, coordination of recruitment, hiring assignment, supervision, training and evaluation of all workers’ compensation staff, maintaining a positive public relations and communication program, ensuring proactive communications with all stakeholders, liaison to Labor & Industries, Washington Self Insures Association and vendors, maintaining a model of collaborative decision-making and effective, positive communication to ensure team success, attendance and participation in the SEECT and SWWCT Executive Board Meetings along with technical and administrative assistance related to workers’ compensation issues for school districts in the two ESD Workers’ Compensation Trusts.

Responsible for the supervision of the Kroger Oregon and Washington workers' compensation claims team. Functions involve review of examiners claims to ensure compliance with service contracts, quality standards and state jurisdictions. Compile, review and analyze management reports, close review of reserves on high cost claims, monitor third party, litigated, questionable and high profile claims as determined by the client. Responsible for interviews, hires and colleague performance plans. Provide support, guidance, leadership and motivation to promote maximum performance of the team.

Clackamas, Oregon

Responsible for the management of worker’s compensation claims for Safeway Inc. in both Oregon and Washington. Job requirements include, fact findings, investigation, timely compensability determinations, diary, reserving, managing litigation, negotiating settlements, determination and calculation of time loss benefits due, file reviews of colleges to unsure jurisdictional processing, tracking of OSHA recordable claims, identification and recovery of third party liens, ongoing communications and staffing with employee’s, store and warehouse management, labor relations, human resources and union representatives, ongoing verbal and written communication with medical providers, management of return to work program, EAIP, assist in the development and rollout of all new reporting and safety programs, tracking and follow up of PPE violations, initial investigation of liability claims, identification of preferred workers and ADA issues, vocational rehabilitation and closing of claims with a timely resolution, backup claims manager.*I left this position in 2005, returned in 2006.
