Here, I developed and coordinated a community based mentoring program at a Residential Treatment Center for at risk youth ages 5-21. I oversaw the recruitment and matching of mentors to ensure safe and effective counseling. I created and facilitated orientations and training curriculums to promote understanding, strength based model, and teach socialization & life skills. I also led community outreach efforts to educate potential stakeholders about our organization’s mission and programs.In addition to my self-esteem improvement program, some of my accomplishments at Jewish Child Care Association include:• Coordinating the 700-member volunteer department, with lunch and evening programs for mentors and tutors.• Creating a foster care alumni panel discussion, which involved coaching current foster youth to successfully facilitate a productive conversation among peers and staff.• Starting a pilot tutoring program.• Empowering and coaching youth in implementing community based projects executing their leadership skills.

At The Children’s Village, I practiced as a Multi- Systemic Therapist (MST) in an intensive program to help families prevent and cope with violent or delinquent behaviors and/or emotional challenges in youth ages 11-17. I put my human services skills to use addressing community issues acknowledged as factors contributing to delinquency. I offered counselling to promote behavioral changes and resourcefully focused therapy to include the development of social networks to empower parents. I also networked with many different stakeholders in order to secure referrals and ensure ongoing support to meet my clients’ needs.Some highlights of my experience here include:• Utilizing a strength-based model to highlight family aptitudes emphasizing long-term, sustainable changes.• Acknowledgment for case record documentation during audits.

For United Spinal Association, I organized and facilitated training programs and workshops to promote personal development. I conducted outreach programs on multiple topics impacting the disabled community and served as an advocate providing support, information, and referrals to children and parents. Some contributions include:• Writing educational articles for the national monthly newsletter Orbit on topics related to disabilities and family support.• Developing a Lunch-and-Learn program that fostered a more cohesive work environment.

At Lakeside, I supervised 12 foster care managers and oversaw individual cases to ensure there was compliance with standards and regulations. I provided counselling to children and families and facilitated group meetings. I also established tracking metrics to monitor the progress of different cases and ensure timely completions.
